Its quite a mystery whats happening aruond the globe these days.Due to my 12th boards my parents gave up the cable connection. With it my connections to the world have been kept only to the computer. But ocassionally i buy the news paper to check it out and break the monotony. On the course of one such readings i came across a letter to the editor. Its content was quite boggling. It was a reference to another letter ,posted early in the week and which i was fortunate enough to read. It said that During ramadan(holy month of fasting and prayers for muslims) non-muslims working in dubai should also get a 4:00 pm leave from the office and work,at the same hours as their muslim collegues. The reply to this however had another tune. The man had written that muslims working in the western countries did not get off early during Ramadan , so how could a non muslim expect to get off early here.
Does one’s religion define how one would be treated in a particular region??
A religion is a way by which we try to define things beyond our grasp,it’s realm is just above science.Followers of a religion for an ideal or a method by which they define the unexplained. But something that is common between all religions is the idea of the presence of an all powerful force around us.In other words god. It is quite true that the idea of the existence of god was infact the first religion of the world. Its branched down so much that one religion cannot idenitfy its own sister religion. Its followers forget to understand that they all are standing up for the same reason:GOD:.
Reading about different religions is fun.Its really not that boring. The origins are quite fascinating.
The oldest possible religion is said to zorashtranism(hope i got that right).Ounded by a prophet called zoraster. They beleived in fire worship,so they built fire temples in which the sanctum sanctorium contained an eternal fire.In india they are called as parsies. The most fascinating thing about them is that they dont burn or bury their dead. They hang them on a pole for birds to feed. I heard one such site is there in india,(Mumbai actually).
The egyptians beleived that it was the sun(RA) that ruled the earth assisted by nature who cradled human civilisation. They built temples in honor of their gods and godessess.
It was the egyptian civilisation which cradled another religion. The religion would grow to give birth to another religion which would conquer the entire world .It was jewism, when mosses came and took the slaves to his kingdom, to form the state of jerusalem. When one religion died another was born from its ashes, like a phoenix. When jewism became intolerable due to the clergy they found a new way.A path in which rhey could escape the atrocities of the temple. So they followed jesus and rallied for him and they truly beleived in him as a saviour ,not from this world to another, but from the old withering jewish religion.Seven centuries later another man started the same process and unified the people of arabia. This was prophet mohammed(PBUH).The idea that sprang out of him was called islam.Today it has the second largest following after christanity.
You mus tbe wondering that i being a hindu, have not talked about my own religion.Well, i
saved this bit for the end. Hinduism is not a single religion at all. It is a collage of 100 religions put together. So definitely there are 100’s of gods in my religions. But the only thing in common between all thes 100 religions was the caste system. That is what made the first visitors to our country call us hindus(literally people to the south of the hindukush mountain ranges.).The word hindu has no definite meaning.
A well known muslim scholar in dubai recently stated that scientists should study the holy quran try finding the scientific clues which wuld prove that it is teuly a work of god.Well. to that i would say,"Science itself is a religion, it is a religion of reason. It does not belive in fairy tales.asking one religion to endorse another is foolishness because religion is an idea not a book wriiten down and kept in a sacred shrine."
To be frank all this is went on in my mind after reading that ghastly article.I am not a priest or a professor , i’m just an 18 year old trying to make sense out of all this.

Comments Jyoti Bhojwani, 12 October 2005: Very enlightening indeed!.. and, don’t you fear of any offense here. It’s a free ground...
Scot Savage, 12 October 2005: Very informative and well-thought out work. I don’t think anyone should be offended by this as you take a neutral perspective and you are merely informing rather than implying that one religion is better than other.
