‘Do, or do not, there is no try’ famously spoke Yada. Well there’s some alien speak for you! He obviously didn’t have a clue about human nature. And fair enough, after all he was in a galaxy far, far away. He had probably never even heard of humans. So maybe it is not Yoda who is the wanker at all, it is probably the humans that quote this alien line that are the real wankers and they are humans and should know better. Humans given only 2 choices of ‘do’ or ‘do not’ will nine times out of ten choose ‘do not’. We humans need the third choice of ‘try’ or we will not bother even attempting to get anything done. Luke is obviously also an alien even though he looks pretty human. He when faced with only ‘do’ or ‘do not’ gives it a go anyway. If there were no ‘try’ Australian society would not exist. Beside ‘Good’ay mate’ the other phase this country, post-invasion, was built on was the wholeheartedly spoken, “Come on mate, give id a go.” (id = it, Aussies pronounce t’s as d’s.). So I guess my advice to Yoda when dealing with humans is to dump the old ‘do or do not’ speech for the good old Aussie speech. Come on Yoda, give id a go. How did you like this text?
